Red wine Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Rosarubra Shamàn
Sensory notes
Colour: A luminous deep garnet red with a magnificent texture.
Nose: The nose is very intense, with a floral bouquet of geranium, rose, a fruity bouquet of blackberry jam, plum, cherry, and a spicy bouquet of vanilla and tobacco.
Taste: A generous, pulpy taste, warmth and softness well balanced with acidity and tannins that are big but smooth, round, not intrusive, with a delicate sapidity.
The flavour is in perfect harmony with the nose, with which there are berries, humus, earth, cloves, liquorice and a toastiness that accompanies the long, delicately bitter finish.
Harvest:
Shamàn is born in Pietranico (PE) from the best grapes of ancient vineyards bred to GDC and spurred cordon, at an altitude of 380 mt asl, therefore with an enviable temperature range, magnificently exposed to south/south-east, in an enchanting biodynamic oasis, immersed between the peaks of the Maiella and Morrone, the gorges of Popoli and the Adriatic Sea.
A Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC, which grapes are scrupulously selected by hand, the result of a late harvest in the first half of October, grapes hand-picked only, with a slight over-ripening of the grapes and a consequent slight increase in residual sugar.
Vinification:
Vinification in stainless steel followed by malolactic fermentation and 18 months’ maturation in a single large 50hl Slavonian oak cask, before being bottled in the total absence of oxygen and beginning an ageing period of at least another 8 months.
How to pair our wine Shamàn Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC Riserva:
A magnificent wine, a masterpiece, yet another success of the Rosarubra estate in Pietranico, a wine that tells the story of living in an extraordinary oasis where the soil itself, the scents and flavours generated, are the result of a system that shall never interfere with nature.
Born to be enjoyed in moments of reflection, it also goes well with dishes of equivalent structure and elegance. We suggest waiting a few minutes after opening to allow it to reveal its secrets, possibly at a temperature of 18-20 degrees and with a nice wide-brimmed goblet.
Very much appreciated with a good book, but also with aperitifs, appetizers, first courses, vegetarian food, red meats and medium and long matured cheeses, focaccia stuffed with courgettes and speck, escalopes with mushrooms, maltagliati with game ragout, fillet steak with green pepper, semi-matured pecorino.

This is a beautiful wine. Very inviting aromas of roast coffee beans, so smooth on the palate, with chocolate, oranges and other dark fruits. It’s special! It went so well with Chili con Carne, served with boiled rice and topped with a tasty mature Cheddar cheese. I have two-thirds of a bottle left and I want to keep it all to myself!
