This is a top Montepulciano made with grapes sourced from an over fifty-year-old vineyard kissed by the sun on rich-clay hills around the town of Teramo in Northern Abruzzo. This wine impresses in rich aromas of ripe plum, blackberries and blueberries, meld with notes of violets, spices, coffee, and tobacco. The full-bodied palate of this Montepulciano that matures for 24 months in large Slavonian oak casks is rounded and supple in feel. Luscious dark berry and plum aromas are lifted by chocolate and coffee notes leaving space to a delicate fresh balsamic finish.
It is a great pair with slow-cooked stew, hearty sausages, duck, game, aged cheeses.
