Sottovento is a velvety, ripe fruited Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC that coats the palate in a ton of flavour. Ripe red cherries dangling with dark plums and bramble fruits on the nose. There is a smoky, cacao edge too. On the palate there is an unbelievable creaminess. Dark plums, blackberries and blackcurrants come out to play again on a fresh cherry backdrop. The cacao has evolved into a smooth milk chocolate, balanced by a savoury waft of tobacco. There is a vibrant medium acidity and a mineral complex finish. A rich, round red with a stylish label. Perfect for pairing with a rich spaghetti bolognese, bbq pork ribs or roast duck breast.

Montepulciano is one of the most important red Italian grapes extensively planted in the region of Abruzzo in South-Eastern Italy and the Montepulciano d`Abruzzo DOC wine is undoubtedly its most famous incarnation.

The grapes that become Sottovento Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Torri Cantine are carefully selected and handpicked from high quality, sun-kissed vineyards on the Abruzzo hills, facing onto the Adriatic Sea. Torri Cantine employs sustainable Organic Viticultural techniques in the vineyards and this fruit-driven Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is certified as “BIO”.
