Passerina is one of the most popular native white grape of Abruzzo in central Italy. The name is related to the House Sparrow (in Italian “Passero”). These birds love eating delicious sweet Passerina tiny berries (thankfully not all of them!). Light in body and more delicate compared to a Pecorino, wines made from Passerina are crisp and elegant with lovely floral and fruity notes. This Passerina is bright and fresh with a ripe citrus character, fresh herbs and sea salt. The palate is crisp with loads of zippy acidity showing lemon, peach and acacia. It finishes lean with some mineral notes. It is a great summer sipping wine or pairing with sushi, fish, seafood, salads and appetisers. If you are keen on Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio, give Passerina a try!
